we are storytellers of British craft, telling the provenance of exquisitely British-made luxury furniture and homeware pieces we feature in our curated collections. We champion British craftsmanship, telling the stories behind the pieces and promoting homegrown talent that is creating contemporary design for the home and keeping traditional crafts alive.
Many of the craftspeople whose exquisite home décor, furniture, and gifting pieces we feature in our collections are independent makers. They work alone and run their small businesses locally. By focusing on British production solely, we are supporting local makers and local economies, maintaining employment in traditional British crafts and passing them on to future generations to learn and love. We also support up-and-coming talent in Britain with their new, innovative designs and materials that grow with new technologies.
From limited edition to the wonderfully unusual, we curate a range of unique luxury furniture and homeware made in Britain to help you find the perfect piece for your home.
Unfortunately, too often than not, people know where a piece has been designed but not necessarily where it has been made. It is important to know where a piece has been made to ensure that makers have been treated fairly for their craft and that the environment has not been harmed in the process.
Every piece in our collection has a story to tell and at AUTHOR, we revel in ensuring you know every tiny detail about where, when, and how a piece was made, especially who made it and why. We curate these pieces steeped in distinctive provenance to help you author your story in your home.
From an elegant bone china espresso cup handmade in Berkshire to an opulent console table handcrafted in Port Glasgow, rest assured that your AUTHOR piece has been made in Britain by a British-based maker that has been treated respectfully for their craft.

British interiors and design are synonymous with high-quality materials, expert craftsmanship, and attention to detail. To us, British design is focused on the processes involved in making a piece, the materials it is made from and the stories behind it that are often rooted in rich heritage and tradition. There is a simple and classic elegance to British design that remains timeless, showcasing the thought and emotion that has gone into making a piece. We only curate British-made pieces that are designed to be loved for a lifetime, true to the longevity of British design.
