AUTHOR was envisioned when our founder, interior designer Jane Adams, found her clients were struggling and becoming paralysed when searching for meaningful and unique furnishings for their homes on their own. Many have a respect for craftsmanship and the desire to own something special that they can hold onto forever. Too often they would lack the confidence or the sheer will to trawl through hundreds of different search result pages before they found ‘the one’.

At AUTHOR, we source, collate and curate collections of exceptionally well-made luxury homeware for customers and clients who care about quality. The sophisticated and timeless designs in our collections are all made in Britain to the highest of standards and with the finest materials, all responsibly, ethically and sustainably sourced. These pieces are enduring and have potential future heirloom status, meaning if they are cared for appropriately, they are able to be passed on to future generations to love for a lifetime.

We are a small team based in rural Angus in Scotland who are passionate about all things design and quality. We champion British design, the artistry and master craftsmanship in keeping traditional crafts alive whilst also embracing and promoting innovative, contemporary design. AUTHOR constantly welcomes new makers to the fold as our community of British based designers and makers is ever growing. We celebrate the provenance of each piece in our collections, encouraging our clients and customers to understand the story of the piece; who made it, where it was made and what it was handcrafted from. This is what makes the designs in our collections special and unique as many are made in limited edition small runs.

We also design and commission our own high-end range of high-quality interior accessories and furniture for our AUTHOR’s Own collection. All these pieces are made exclusively for AUTHOR locally or in collaboration with skilled craftspeople across Scotland by ethical and sustainable means.

Along with selling beautiful British design on our website, AUTHOR also provides an interior design service. We work with private clients on residential and commercial projects, from full turn key projects to helping style small corners in living spaces, no venture is too big or too small and the AUTHOR team is always on hand to help you with our excellent customer service.
