In The Art of Coorie: How to Live Happy The Scottish Way, Glasgow-based journalist Gabriella Bennett, explores what ‘coorie’ is and how it has helped nurture the astonishing creativity that Scotland is famed for, despite an often harsh and unforgiving climate. ‘Coorie’ – or còsagach in Gaelic – is the Scottish version of ‘hygge’. The Art of Coorie explores lifestyle, homes and interiors, traditions, and how to enjoy life despite challenging elements. It looks at how to appreciate what we have around us and how to use the best of all things Scottish to enhance life and its pleasures. Look out for the chapter on ‘festive coorie’ where Jane gives tips for Christmas Gift Wrapping.

4. Cocktail Napkins

These lavish cocktail napkins are a part of a collaboration between celebrated Scottish designer, Iona Crawford, and the late renowned chef, Andrew Fairlie. These gorgeous designs by Iona originate from the extraordinary garden where rare and remarkable produce is grown for Andrew’s patented two star Michelin restaurant at Gleneagles. The love of nature and the Scottish landscape cultivated this wonderful partnership. The textures, tones, colours and patina of this 19th century garden are all explored through these original designs by Iona.

5. Bronze Full and Half Fig

These gorgeous bronze figs are translations cast directly from original, organic figs by bronze artist Alice-Andrea Ewing as a part of her collaboration project she leads, named Pomarius, where Alice creates castings from the produce of gardens, historical locations and ancient trees in the UK. Each casting displays the unique characteristics and details from the piece it was cast from making each bronze individual and exquisite. They have a lovely, cooling surface that shows every little detail of the skin of the fig as well as the internal fruit with the half figs. They look beautiful as a grouping or on their own on a desk or in a bookcase.

Please keep in mind that the cut off date for bronze pieces to be delivered in time for Christmas is 1st/2nd December so please place your order as early as possible. We may have some pieces in stock after this date so do not hesitate to get in touch with the office after this date.

These stunning walnuts make a delightful, long-lasting gift with their tactile feel and cool-to-the-hand surface. They work beautifully as a grouping or will sit happily on their own.

7. Black Shino Tea Bowl

This stunning glass Shino Tea Bowl with black interior is handblown by glass artist, Vicky Higginson, in her Edinburgh based studio. The pattern on this glass cup echoes the traditional Japanese ‘shino’ ceramic glaze, and is sandblasted to create a tactile exterior surface texture which contrasts with the smooth black interior. This larger sized tumbler is suitable for an ampler measure or cocktail if you’re gifting the whisky or Tom Collins lover in your life.
